65. see somebody ( do / doing )

- see + 사람 + 원형

Daewon got into his car and drove away. You saw this.

You can say:

  • I saw Daewon get into his car and drive away.

이러한 문장구조에서는 동사원형 get / drive / do 등 을 사용. ( to get / to drive / to do)

- see + 사람 + -ing

Yesterday you saw Sana. She was waiting for a bus.

You can say

  • I saw Sana waiting for a bus.

- see + 사람 + ( 원형 vs. -ing )

I saw him do something = he did something( 단순과거 ) and I saw this.
( 그 행동을 처음부터 끝까지 다 봄 )

예문

  • He fell off the wall. I saw this. -> I saw him fall off the wall.
  • The accident happened. Did you see it? -> Did you see the accident happen?

I saw him doing something = he was doing something( 과거진행 ) and I saw this.
( 그가 어떤 행동을 하고 있는 것을 보았지만, 처음부터 끝까지 다 본 것은 아님 )

예문

  • He was walking along the street. I saw this when i drove past in my car.
    -> I saw him walking along the street.

때로는 의미상 차이가 중요하지 않을 때는 둘중 어느 것이든 쓸 수 있음.

  • I've never seen her dance.
  • I've never seen her dancing.

- see, hear, feel

이러한 문장구조는 see / hear / feel 등 의 동사에도 적용된다.

예문

  • I didn't hear you come in.( You came in - I didn't hear this )
  • Liz suddenly felt somebody touch her on the shoulder.
